The Race to the Flag 5k Committee consists of Westmont Park District and People’s Resource Center staff, volunteers from the Village of Westmont Health & Wellness Committee and the community.

This is a chip timed 5K WALK/RUN benefiting People’s Resource Center in Westmont, and Honoring our veterans on Memorial Day Weekend. The event coincides with the Red, White and BBQ weekend. Runners, walkers and strollers (line up at end of starting corral) are all encouraged.  Pets (unless service animals), bikes, skates, scooters and any other wheeled item (excludes wheelchairs or hand cranks by disabled participants) are prohibited. The event concludes with an awards ceremony and pancake breakfast which is included for all runners.

The committee would like to thank all of the volunteers who assist in the planning and execution of this wonderful event!  Additional thanks goes to the Westmont Lions Club for their support as a co-host of the event and their coordination of the pancake breakfast on the day of the event. A big thanks goes to the residents of the Oakwood Homeowner’s Association for their cooperation with the race route. And thank you to the Village of Westmont and the Westmont Emergency Management Agency for their support with street closures and event safety.
